The Library is housed in an appropriate position of the Main Academic Block of the college, easily accessible from all Teaching Departments, Lecture Halls and Administrative Office.

The total carpet area is 512 square meters with 56 reading seats.

Electronic Journals

The library is providing access to electronic journals by direct subscription and also through ICAR Journals Consortia (CeRA).

Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture

ICAR is providing electronic information support for agricultural education, research and extension. Consortium for E-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA) is one of such service. The nodal agency providing this service is IARI, New Delhi. As a partner institution, KAU is providing this service to our users through the KAU Library and Information System (KAULIS). Subscribed as well as free resources, including Journals and Annual Reviews can be retrieved through the address http://www.cera.jccc.in. Most of the agriculture related journals from selected publishers are available in CeRA. At present, more than 3000 journals are accessible.

Journal of Tropical Agriculture

The Journal of Tropical Agriculture is a peer reviewed international journal published by the Kerala Agricultural University. It covers all aspects of crop science, agro-ecosystem management and conservation, and in particular the application of biological, engineering, ecological, and social knowledge to the management of agricultural crops including plantation and horticultural crops.

KrishiPrabha (Electronic Theses Database in Agriculture)

KrishiPrabha is a full-text electronic database of Indian Agricultural Doctoral Dissertations submitted by research scholars to the State/Deemed Agricultural Universities in India. This database initially coverers more than 10000 dissertations developed with financial support from Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi under its National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP). Nodal centre for this database is Nehru Library, Ch. Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar.

Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)

More than 7000 journals are accessible through this directory. More than 3600 journals are searchable at article level. Presently more than 5.00 lakhs articles are included in the DOAJ service.

Virtual Labs on Biotechnology

This is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under the National Mission on Education through ICT. It provides remote-access to Labs in various disciplines of Science and Engineering. These Virtual Labs would cater to students at the undergraduate level, post graduate level as well as to research scholars. It aims to encourage students to conduct experiments by arousing their curiosity.

Organization of the Collection

The Documents are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification and catalogued according the AACR. The Library follows Open Access System.

Membership

The Library provides regular membership to the Students, Teachers & Researchers of the College. Other staff members of the college also can avail the service of the library as and when needed. Outsiders are permitted for reference.

Services

The Library provides all conventional services such as, Book Loan; Guidance in Literature Search and Use of Reference Books, Indexes & Abstracts; Book Bank- General; Book Bank -SC/ST. Formal and Informal User Education Programmes are being conducted. Internet and Database services, E-Journal Service, Scanning and Printing Facility, etc. are available with enough UPS back up.

E-Mail Alert and other Web based Services

For the last several years, library is providing several web based services such as E-Mail Alert Services, Notification of new books added to the library, technical events and other news etc. Towards this purpose, the library maintains two E-Mail Groups, one for Teacher Users and the other for Student Users.

Students Book Bank Scheme

Under this scheme, books will be supplied to the students at a subsidized price.

Library Hours

The Library is opened for 8 hours a day, that is, from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, except on Sundays and public holidays. The circulation desk will function from 9.15 am to 4.40 pm. Reference and other services can be availed till 4.45 pm.
