Current Activities
Teaching
This Department is currently offering – U.G. Courses for B. Sc. (Ag.) programmes. For M. Sc. (Ag.) students of this department as well as from few other departments – courses are being offered. Five courses are being thought for Ph. D. programme. Besides the regular courses, credit seminar of this College for all the PG Scholars of this college are being offered from this department.

RAWE
Last semester of the under graduate students namely the Rural Agricultural work Experience Programme (RAWE)is co – ordinated by this department. A Semester long programme, split into nine modules, the students are exposed to the current and emerging opportunities and challenges in agriculture and rural development. Large scale extension activities including ‘village stay camps’ are designed and implemented on an intensive manner with the full involvement of the entire faculty members. In all the modules, students are guided to work with and learn from the farmers and rural entrepreneurs. Besides acquiring hands on field experience, the RAWE modules bring positive changes in the students mindset, outlook, personality trails, managerial and entrepreneurship skills.

Research programmes are being implemented mainly based on the problems experienced by the stakeholders in Kerala farming.
On going research Programmes:
* KAU plan Scheme on action research on coconut mite control.
* Technology Assessment and Refinement through Institution village linkage programme, RARS, Pattambi (Collaborating).
* Technology dissemination and capacity building among women groups for use of bioinputs in agriculture

RAWE program
The Rural Agricultural work Experience Programme (RAWE)is a unique academic activity co – ordinated by this department. During this Semester long programme, split into nine modules, the students are exposed to the current and emerging opportunities and challenges in agriculture and rural development. Multi faceted activities including farmer seminars, trainings, demonstrations, quiz programs and agrl. competitions‘are designed and implemented as part of the village stay which is the highlight of the program..
